Marie Anna Baranyai

SOUTH BEND - Marie Anna Baranyai, 92, of Washington Street, formerly of Huff Avenue, Niles, died at 9 p.m. Sunday in St. Joseph's Medical Center after an illness. Mrs. Baranyai retired in 1965 from Bendix Corp. after 30 years of service. She was born July 12, 1902, in Ghent, Belgium, and lived in the area for 83 years, coming from Belgium.

 

On Aug. 7, 1923, in South Bend, as Marie Anna Strobbelaere, she married George M. Baranyai. He died Oct. 8, 1973. She is survived by a daughter, Leila M. Lawson of Inverness, Ill.; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church of Niles, Daughters of Isabella Notre Dame Circle, Hoosier Grandmothers Club, St. Theresa's Society of St. Stephen's Catholic Church, St. Mark Christian Mothers, Golden Cluster of St. Hedwig Catholic Church and Barron Lake Mothers Club.

 

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph Funeral Home. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home, where a rosary will be said at 4 p.m. with members of Golden Cluster particiapting.
