Joan E. Barany

November 5, 1929 – December 16, 1997

SOUTH BEND – Joan E. Barany, 68, residing on Oak Ridge Drive, South bend IN, passed away at 6:29pm on Tuesday, December 16, in Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Barany was employed with L.S. Ayres for ten years.

She was born on November 5, 1929, in South Bend, to the late Russell A. and Carmelita Pittman Bates, and was a lifelong resident.

On November 6, 1948, in South Bend, she married Ernest J. Barany, who survives.

She is also survived by two daughters, Diane Perry of Baltimore MD, and Donna Barany of South Bend; a son, Ernest J. Barany, Jr., of Albuquerque NM; four grandchildren, Edward Perry and Christopher Perry, both of Baltimore, Megan Barany of South Bend and Seth Barany of New Mexico; a sister, Gloria Alma Phelps of Buffalo WY; and by a niece and nephew, Janet Edgecomb of Wyoming and Thomas Phelps of Washington.

Mrs. Barany was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church.  Services will be held at 11am on Friday in Little Flower Catholic Church.  Rev. Donald Guertin, CSC, will officiate.  Entombment will follow at Riverview Mausoleum.

Friends may call form 4 to 8pm today in the Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Barany’s name to Little Flower Church.
