SOUTH BEND - George M. Barbara, 62, went to be with the
Lord at 5:00 p.m. Friday, November 7, 2008. He was born in South
Bend, Indiana, to the late Frank and Angela (Palmero) Barbara. He
was a graduate of Riley High School, South Bend, in 1964. He
retired in 2007 from Classic and Bennett Driveaway. He was a
member of the Marine Corps League, and attended Holy Family
Catholic Church. He was an avid sports fan and an animal lover.
George is survived by his daughter, Brenda Matuskiewicz, and
granddaughter, Sherri of Mishawaka. Also surviving are his
brother, John Barbara, and wife, Mary of South Bend; a sister,
Rosemary Barbara of Mishawaka; nieces, Jennifer Draskovits,
Mishawaka, Karen (Gary) Hixenbaugh, Osceola, Kristi (Tim) Zentz,
Mishawaka; and a nephew, Tim (Amanda) Draskovits, South Bend. He
was preceded in death by his parents, and by a brother, Frank Jr.
Visitation will be Tuesday in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, Indiana, from 4 to 8 p.m., followed by the Rosary and prayer service. Private family burial will take place on Wednesday morning.
