Michael S. Barbera

Feb. 8, 1961 - Oct. 15, 1998

SOUTH BEND - Michael S. Barbera, 37, of South 33rd Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away on Thursday, Oct. 15, from injuries sustained in an automobile/motorcycle accident.

He was born on Feb. 8, 1961, in Mishawaka, Ind., to William and Doris (Thomas) Barbera. He was preceded in death by his mother Doris on March 9, 1998.

On Aug. 30, 1986, in Battell Park, Mishawaka, Mike married the former Sandra Lynn, who survives.

He is also survived by a son, Christopher Michael Barbera; his father, William Barbera of Mishawaka; two sisters, Patricia Barbera of South Bend and Margaret (John) Banicki of Mishawaka; a brother, Philip (Carolyn) Barbera of Mishawaka; a brother-in-law, Edward (Tina) Lynn of South Bend; four nieces, Melissa Banicki of Mishawaka, Cassie, Christina and Audria Lynn, all of South Bend; and by four nephews, David and Jonathon Barbera and Michael Banicki, all of Mishawaka, and Alex Lynn of South Bend.

Mike had recently been employed by Reese Hitch of Elkhart, Ind. His passion was woodworking. The many cabinets, tables, entertainment centers and other items he had crafted through the years will be a remembrance that will be cherished by those fortunate enough to have them in their possession.

Friends may visit Mike's family from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 18, at the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, Mishawaka.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 19, in the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.

Memorial contributions may be made to a trust fund established for Christopher Michael Barbera at any branch of the Teacher's Credit Union.
