Freddie V. Bardo Sr.

Aug. 9, 1921 - April 14, 2010
SOUTH BEND - Freddie V. Bardo, Sr. was born to Robert Trap Bardo and Eva Douglas on August 9, 1921 in Sparta IL. Freddie grew up in Sparta, IL and later entered The Armed Services in October 1942 and served until April 1952 where then he received an Honorable Discharge with the Purple Heart, Silver Star and other medals for his service. After serving in the Armed services he returned to Sparta, IL where he met Mary Ann Anderson and later were united in Marriage June 29, 1952, who preceded him in death. Freddie went to be with the Lord on April 14, 2010 and leaves to celebrate his life two devoted children, Patricia (Michael) Greer of Mishawaka, IN and Freddie (Sarah) Bardo Jr. of Duncanville, TX; six grandchildren, Tonia (Thomas) McGarvey, Rachel Smith, Danyel (Juanez) Wilson, Taryna Bardo, Richard (Tonya) Brooks Jr. and Freddie (Angel) Bardo lll; twenty great grandchildren; two sisters, Laura Porter of Sparta, IL and Bernice Collins of Springfield IL; four sisters in laws, Lillie (Roosevelt) Lacy and Bessie Selmon, both of South Bend, IN, Luvenia Nance of Sparta, IL and Vera Anderson of Mt. Vernon, IL; three brother in laws, Frank (Virgie) Anderson of South Bend, IN., Melvin (Margaret) Anderson of Sparta, IL, and Michael (Janice) Anderson of Riverside CA. He was preceded in death by his mother, Eva Bardo and father, Robert Bardo Sr.; sisters, Lucille Bardo, Sybil Matthews, Wanda Penny and Alberta Penny; along with brothers, Carl Bardo, Cecil Bardo, and Robert Bardo Jr. He also leaves many other family members, nieces, nephews, cousins and his family of Greater St John Missionary Baptist Church where he served on the Trustee Board, Deacon Board, and many other duties on his Christian walk of life. Services for Mr. Freddie V. Bardo, Sr. will held on Monday, April 19, 2010 in the Greater St. John M.B. Church 101 N. Adams St., South Bend, IN Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. funeral service will begin at 12 noon. Burial will take place at Fort Cluster National Cemetery, Augusta, MI on Tuesday, April 20, 2010. The Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
