Evelyn R. Bare

Evelyn R. Bare, 90, residing at 3602 South Ironwood Drive, South Bend, Ind., formerly of South Fellows Street, passed away at 1:20 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, in Memorial Hospital. She was born March 7, 1912, in Pleasant Hill Township, Pike County, Ill., as the daughter of Samuel Harvey and Sarah Frances (Syrole) Miller, and had lived in this area since 1950. On Jan. 31, 1945, in Silver Spring, Md., she married William Bare, who passed away Oct. 4, 1988. She was also preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters.She is survived by two sons, Richard Bare of North Brunswick, N.J., and Charles (Judy) Bare of Frederick, Md.; and by one granddaughter, Elizabeth Bare. Mrs. Bare was a member of Zion United Church of Christ and the Daughters of the American Revolution, and served in the United States Marine Women's Corps. She was formerly employed with the South Bend Community School Corporation, having worked in the cafeteria at James Whitcomb Riley High School.

 

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend. Rev. John vonLackum , pastor of Zion United Church of Christ, will officiate. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel.
