James W. Barkes

SOUTH BEND - James W. Barkes, 56, of 26288 W. Edison Road (Lydick) South Bend, Ind., passed away after a sudden illness at 7:15 a.m. on Thurs-day, Nov. 6, in his residence. Mr. Barkes was born on Feb. 12, 1941, in Warsaw, Ind., and lived in the Michiana area his lifetime. He was self-employed in sales for several companies.

On May 25, 1958, in South Bend, he married Sandra L. Harrier, who survives. He is also survived by three daughters, Jody L. Barkes of South Bend, Kim S. Barkes of Elkhart, Ind., and Jayna T. Keigley of New Carlisle, Ind. Jim is also survived by two loving grandchildren and by a brother, Gus Bogotis of South Bend. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jackie K. Barkes on June 23, 1977.

Visitation hours for Mr.Barkes will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at the Hanley & Sons ''Southwest Chapel'' Funeral Home, located at West Ireland Road/Indiana 23, South Bend. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. on Monday in the funeral home, with Pastor Greg D. Morris officiating. Burial will take place at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Edison Road, South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to the James W. Barkes Memorial Fund, 26288 W. Edison Road, South Bend, IN. The Hanley & Sons ''Southwest Chapel'' Funeral Home handled services and extend heartfelt sympathy to the Barkes Family.
