SOUTH BEND - Alice A. Barkley, 73, of Victoria Street, died after an illness at 3:45 p.m. Monday in her home.

 

Mrs. Barkley retired from the alumni relations department at Indiana University South Bend after 20 years of service.

 

She was born Aug. 13, 1922, in Jasper County, Ind. On Jan. 11, 1947, in South Bend, as Alice A. Tetzloff, she married James E. Barkley. He survives with two daughters, Jacquie A. Wert of South Bend and Jane E. DeVreis of Chesterton; a son, James M. of Indianapolis; eight grandchildren; her mother, Lola Tetzloff of Winamac; four sisters, Leona Degner of Spooner, Wis., Hazel Stamper of Granger, Doris Balcerak of Merrillville, Ind., and Irma Tetzloff of Washington, D.C.; and a brother, Kenneth Tetzloff of Eau Claire, Wis.

 

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.

 

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the church. Burial will be in Southlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St., and one hour before services on Thursday in the church.
