David M. Barnes

Dr. David M. Barnes, 51, of 54763 Colonial Ridge Drive, Bristol, Ind. died Monday at 9:11 p.m. in the Emergency Room of the Goshen General Hospital.

 

He was born July 15, 1945 in South Bend. He married Jean Ann Hunt on August 12, 1972 in Indianapolis, Ind., she survives along with his three daughters Sara E., Emily K. and Molly E., all at home; twin sons Zach and Sam, both at home; his parents Delbert and Louise Barnes of South Bend; and two brothers Daniel Barnes of South Bend and Lester Barnes of Indianapolis.

 

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Bristol United Methodist Church and one hour prior to the 2 p.m. funeral on Saturday at the church. Rev. Ron Spyker will officiate. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery in Bristol. Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society. Dr. Barnes was Director of Radiology at Goshen General Hospital and was a board certified Family Practitioner.

 

Dr. Barnes also spent five years in Iron Mountain, Mich. in Family Practice. He was a member of Phi Rho Sigma, Medical Fraternity; American Board of Family Practice, Diplomate, 1978-1985; Klaty Society; Indiana State Medical Association; Radiological Society of North America; American Roentgen Ray Society; Medical Society of Elkhart County; and a twenty year member of Loyal Order of Moose in Norway, Mich. Dr. Barnes was also a member of the Bristol United Methodist Church.

 

He graduated from Indiana University and received his Doctor of Medicine from Indiana University School of Medicine. He served his family practice residency at St. Joseph Medical Center in South Bend and served his Radiology residency at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis.
