Jay O. Barnes

Jay O. Barnes, age 49, of Houston, Texas, a resident here until 12 years ago, died in Houston Tuesday after a brief illness.

 

He was born in South Bend, Aug. 14, 1893. In 1934 he married Bess Pearl Allen. She survives. He also leaves his mother, Mrs. Ida A. Barnes, of South Bend; and an uncle, Frank Barnes, South Bend. Burial will take place in Massachusetts.

Jay O. Barnes, aged 49, of Houston, Texas, a former resident here and former assistant manager of transportation for the Studebaker corporation here, died June 1 in Houston, according to word which just reached here.

 

Funeral rites were held June 6 in Westfield, Mass., with burial in Pine Hill cemetery there.

 

Mr. Barnes was born in South Bend Aug. 14, 1893, and lived here until 12 years ago when he transferred to New England as salesman for the A. B. Dick company of Chicago. Ten years later he became special supervisor for that firm in the midwest, managing the territory including Texas and Oklahoma. He was married to Bess Pearl Allen, of Springfield, Mass., who survives.

 

He leaves also his mother, Mrs. Ida A. Barnes, of South Bend, and an uncle, Frank Barnes, South Bend.
