Krista Ann Samide Barnes, 32, of
Brick Road, Granger, Ind, passed away following an illness at
1:14 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9th, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical
Center, South Bend, Ind. She was born April 30, 1969, in
Winfield, Ill., to Andrew and Judith (Pyle) Samide.
Krista married Russell Barnes on June 25,
1994, in Glen Ellyn, Ill. She is survived by her husband; her
parents of Wheaton, Ill.; her sister, Amy Benson of
Batavia, Ill.; and by two brothers, Michael Samide of
Indianapolis, Ind., and David Samide of Wheaton.
Krista was employed by Saint Joseph Regional
Medical Center as a rehabilitation counselor and case manager.
Throughout her life, Krista demonstrated her passion and
commitment to upholding the rights of those with disabilities and
assuring success for all. She was a member of the Brain Injury
Support Group and the Disability Rights Commission of South B
end, and the 2001 Miss Wheelchair of Indiana.
Funeral services for Krista will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Christ the King Lutheran Church, 17195 Cleveland Road, South Bend, with the Rev. Kenneth Stenman officiating. Burial will follow the services Thursday in Wheaton. Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 12, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 North Main Street, Mishawaka, Ind. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 2211 North Oak Park Avenue, Chicago, IL 60707-3392.
