Marcus Edward Bartz, 86, of Tanglewood Lane, Mishawaka, formerly of Squire Drive, South Bend, died Saturday evening in Hospice House. Marcus was born December 9, 1918, in Hayes, Wisconsin to John and Susan Bartz.

 

He was married to Vera Esther Berner on April 26, 1943, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His parents, his wife, Vera, a brother, Conrad Bartz, and a sister, Eva Nolting, preceded him in death.

Surviving are two daughters, Linda Alexander and Janet Pagels, both of Albany, California; and his sisters, Martha and Irma Bartz of Eau Clarie, Wis.

 

Marcus worked as an electrical engineer for 38 years for the General Electric Company in Chicago, Minneapolis, and since 1967, in South Bend. After his retirement, his generous spirit kept him as a volunteer with Meals on Wheels for 20 years. He was a long time-member of Peace Lutheran Church of Granger.

 

The HICKEY Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, are in charge of arrangements. At Marcus's request, no memorial services will be held.
