Helen Batagiannis

MISHAWAKA - Helen Batagiannis, 75, passed away on Sunday, March 8, at her home in Mishawaka, Ind. She was formerly of Crown Point, Ind.
She was the beloved wife of Christ Batagiannis, whom she married on Aug. 29, 1948, in Greece, and who remains to cherish her memory. Also remaining to cherish her memory are her son, Harry (Ann) Batagianis of Westville, Ind.; her daughter, Stella Batagiannis of Mishawaka; five grandchildren, Christopher Philip Batagianis, Gina Elane Batagianis, Michael Batagianis, Jason Lay and Jeffery Lay; sisters: Maria Papadopoulou, Irene Mallidi and Afrodite Bakali, all of Greece; nephews and nieces, Emanuel (Vula) Mallidis of Crown Point, George (Nicoletta) Mallidis, Efy Papadopoulou, Lila Papadopoulou and Chris Bakolis of Greece.
She was a member of Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Merrillville, Ind. She was born in Greece, came to the United States in 1958, and became a U.S. citizen.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday at the Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 8000 Madison Street, Merrillville, with Fr. Theodore Potiris officiating. Burial will follow at Calumet Cemetery at Merrillville. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN.
