Orville L. Bates

October 2, 1891March 20, 1974

 

Orville L. Bates Sr., 82, of 25016 Edison Rd, died at 1:05pm Wednesday in St Joseph’s Hospital.  He was a retried Bendix Corp employee

 

Born October 2, 1891, in Buchanan, he had lived here all his life.  On December 27, 1912, in Kankakee IL, he married Carmen Borden, who died June 2, 1971.  On December 11, 1971, in New Carlisle, he married Carol Fox, who survives.  Also surviving are five sons, Andrus E. of Indianapolis, Melbern C and Carl A, both of Niles, Orville L JR of South Bend and Norin of New Carlisle; two daughters, Mrs Blanche Andrzejewski of Pomona CA and Mrs. Maude Miller of New Carlisle; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Mable Thompson of New Carlisle and Mrs. Joyce Shankland of Hamlet; 23 grandchildren; four step grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a step great grandchild; four brothers, Harold of Niles, Howard of Anaheim CA and John and William, both of Kankakee and a sister, Mrs Mable Johnson of Kankakee.

 

Friends may call from 7 to 9pm Thursday and 2 to4 and 7 to9pm Friday in the Welsheimer North Chapel, 52803 US 31N.

 

Services will be at 2pm Saturday in the Hamilton United Methodist Church.  Rev. Paul Steele, pastor of the Lydick Untied Methodist Church will officiate Burial will be in Hamilton Cemetery.  He was a past master of Terre Coupee Lodge 204, F & AM.  Memorial services will be conducted at 7pm Friday by the members of Terre Coupee Lodge.
