John Batiz Sr.
MISHAWAKA - John Batiz Sr., 75, of
Homewood Avenue, Mishawaka, passed away at 2:09 p.m. Saturday,
January 13th, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka,
following an illness.
He was born May 2nd, 1931, in Leechburg, Penn., to Emery and Mary
Batiz, who preceded him in death along with his brothers, James
and Louis, and a sister, Mary Manuszak.
Mr. Batiz was a maintenance person for Gene
Glick Apartments until his retirement in 1996. He was a member of
Memorial Presbyterian Church of South Bend where he served
throughout the years as trustee, elder and deacon. He is survived
by his wife, Dorothy, whom he married in South Bend on November
19th, 1955; their five children, John Batiz Jr. of South Bend,
Donald F. (Kim) Batiz of Goshen, Susan (Michael) Jackson
of Allen, Texas, Lisa Batiz of Mishawaka and Melissa Pace
of South Bend. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and four
great-grandchildren; three sisters, Elizabeth Wyrick of
Knoxville, Tenn., Margaret Chandler of Pittsburgh, PA, and
Yolanda Pecze of South Bend, and a brother, Andrew Batiz
of Leechburg, PA.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m.
Wednesday in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 North Main
Street, Mishawaka, where friends will be received from 6 until 8
p.m. today and also one hour prior to the services on Wednesday.
Burial will follow the services Wednesday at Chapel Hill Memorial
Gardens. The family has requested that memorial contributions be
made to Memorial Presbyterian Church, 1836 Portage Ave., South
Bend, IN 46616.
