Joseph S. Battisti

SOUTH BEND - Joseph S. Battisti, 78, of Southlea Drive, South Bend, Ind., died at 7 a.m., Friday, in his residence. Mr. Battisti was an employee of the former Drewery's Brewery for 18 years, and retired from South Bend Toy after ten years. He was born on Nov. 11, 1917, in Bloomington, Ind., and was a lifelong area resident.

 

On Aug. 30, 1952, in Morgantown, W. Va., he married Rose M. Barone, who preceded him in death on May 29, 1996. Surviving are five daughters, Louise Corban of Michigan City, Ind., Josephine Michalski and Mary Rininger, both of South Bend, Loretta Schick of Texas and Joan Battisti of Illinois; four sons, Tony Battisti of Findlay, Ohio, John Battisti of Goshen, Ind., James Battisti of Illinois and Richard Battisti of Texas; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Louise Smith of Point Marion, Pa. and Henrietta Wilson of Ohio; and two brothers, Charles Battisti and Robert Battisti, of Point Marion.

 

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m., Sunday, in the St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., South Bend. Services will be at 11 a.m., Monday, in the funeral home. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Mr. Battisti was an Army veteran of World War II, and a member of the Disabled American Veterans Post 6. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
