SOUTH BEND - Services for Robert W. Batzel, 72, of Pecan Road, who died of natural causes at 5:10 p.m. Friday at the home of his daughter, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Funeral Home. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County.
Mr. Batzel retired in 1986 from Adams Engineering. He was born July 21, 1921, in Michigan City, living here most of his lifetime.
On Feb. 14, 1942, in Michigan City, he married Kathleen Harlacher. She died Aug. 31, 1992. Surviving are a daughter, Peggy Hansen of South Bend; a son, Steven R. of South Bend; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Norma Huryn of LaPorte. He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 58, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 360 and was a World War II Navy veteran.
