William A. Bauer

Nov. 17, 1930 - Aug. 27, 1996

Mr. William A. Bauer ''Da Hook'', 65, of South 31st St., South Bend, passed away in his residence at 4:16 p.m., Tuesday, after an illness.

Mr. Bauer retired from the trucking industry as a truck driver after 33 years of service, and was most recently employed by Preston Trucking Company of South Bend. Mr. Bauer was born Nov. 17, 1930, in South Bend, and was a lifelong resident.

On February 23, 1952, in South Bend, he married Barbara J. Shisler, who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Kathy (David) Poznanski and Karen (Richard) Calvin, both of South Bend, and Jackie (Carl) De Baillie of Mishawaka; two sons, Robert (Rosemary) Bauer of Mesa, Ariz. and William (Sylvia) Bauer of South Bend; 13 grandchildren, Bobby Joe, Kim, Troy, Jason, Kanetha, Michelle, Jimmy, Trisha, Billy, Karie, Billie Jean, Patti and Travis; six great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Dorothy Kubsch, Margie Christianson and Phyllis Singleton, all of South Bend; and a brother, James Bauer, also of South Bend.

Friends may call on Friday, from 3 to 8 p.m., in the Hollis-Orvis-Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. Cremation will follow with no service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to The Michiana Steelheaders Club, in care of B.K. Club, 731 S. West St., Mishawaka IN 46544. Mr. Bauer was a member of Teamsters Retiree Club Local 364 of South Bend, and a Charter Member of Michiana Steelheaders.
