Helen Baumgartner, 92, residing on West Adams Road, South Bend, Ind., passed away following an illness at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, in the Regency Place Nursing Home. She was born Aug. 1, 1910, in South Bend, as the daughter of John and Ida (Berish) Seach, and had remained a lifelong resident of this community.

 

On June 4, 1931, in South Bend, as Helen Seach, she married Louis Walter Baumgartner, who preceded her in death on April 28, 1985. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Olga Bishop; and by three brothers, Ted Seach, John Seach and Steve Seach. Helen was employed for more than 10 years at the University of Notre Dame as a cook, and for more than 13 years at Memorial Hospital in the housekeeping department.

 

She is survived by two daughters, Alice (Bernard) Doll of South Bend and Helen (Daniel) Duich of Gary, Ind.; a son, John (Donna) Baumgartner of South Bend; two grandsons, Jon Michael Baumgartner of South Bend and Mark Duich of Gary; and by two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Eugene Seach of South Bend.

 

Services will be held at noon Friday, Jan. 17, in the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend. Rev. Daniel Clark, pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time on Friday in the funeral home.
