Harry Belanger

July 13, 1930 - March 11, 1998

SOUTH BEND - Mr. Harry Belanger, 67, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, who resided on Generation Drive, South Bend, Ind., passed away following an extended illness at 12:10 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11, in Memorial Hospital. On July 13, 1930, he was born to the union of Harry and Doris (Valentine) Belanger in Chicago, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Doris Belanger; a son, Peter Belanger; a sister, Lavera Young; and by a brother, Sonny Randolph. He attended Tillman High School, Chicago, graduated in 1947, and was a graduate of Washburn Trade School in 1948. Mr. Belanger served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. He worked as a chief nutritionist for 10 years at the 22nd Street Hospital and for 14 years at Providence Hospital. In 1983 he moved to DeLong, Ind., and was employed by Chase Brass Copper for five years. Coming from DeLong in 1992, he moved to South Bend.

 

On April 30, 1973, he was united in wedlock to Gwendolyn Ross. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Gwendolyn Belanger; five daughters, Harriette Belanger, Tameka Burnette, both of Chicago, Cherri (Maurice) Hurley of Waukegan, Ill., Delphine Ball and Towanna (Michael) Brooks, both of South Bend; four sons, Harry (Monica) Belanger of Atlanta, Ga., Kyeyahn (Chris) Belanger of Fort Riley, Kan., Lee (Starla) Ross and Michael (Joan) Ross, both of South Bend; 24 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Charmaine McFadden of Chicago; a brother, Douglas (Faye) Randolph of Momence, Ill.; and a host of family and friends.

 

 

Funeral services will be held at noon on Monday at the Greater Holy Temple Church of God in Christ.

Friends may visit from 11 a.m. to noon on Monday at the Greater Holy Temple.
