Mary A. Belting

Mary Ann (Hoffman) Belting, 75, of Kepess Court, South Bend, Ind., died after an illness on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 3, in her home. Mrs. Belting was born Jan. 3, 1926, in Kokomo, Ind., to Leo and Ethel (Furlong) Hoffman, who preceded her in death.

 

On May 5, 1951, in Sacred Heart Church, Notre Dame, Ind., she married John W. Belting, who survives. She is also survived by a daughter, Mary Jones of Sumter, S.C.; five sons, William of Lafayette, Ind., Christopher of Lafayette, Colo., Michael of Chicago, Ill., and Kurt and Joseph, both of South Bend; six grandchildren; a brother, Michael Hoffman of Cincinnati, Ohio; and by a sister, Sr. Ann Marie, OCD, of Ada, Mich.

 

Mary was a graduate of St. Mary's College, St. Mary's Academy, and was a member of Holy Cross Catholic C hurch where she served on the Altar-Rosary Society.

 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, in Holy Cross Catholic Church (Wilbur and Vassar streets). Interment will follow at St. Joseph Valley M emorial Park, Granger, Ind. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 5, in the HICKEY Funeral Home, 17131 Cleveland Road, 219/289-1000, where a Rosary will be held at 6 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County or to the Carmelite Monastery, 4300 Mount Carmel Drive, N.E., Ada, MI 49301.
