Margaret M. Benko (November 21, 1925 – October 21, 2007)

SOUTH BEND – Margaret M. Benko, 81, of Flushing, Michigan, formerly of South Bend passed away at 6:56pm Sunday, October 21, 2007 in Genesys Health Park, Grand Blanc, Michigan.

Margaret was born on November 21, 1925 in South Bend to Jules and Irma (Larson) Naessens. Mrs. Benko was active with the Democratic Party, was employed with the Indiana Dept of Motor Vehicles and the Treasurers Office in St. Joseph County and also worked at the Howard Johnson’s in Flint, MI. On June 7, 1947 in South Bend, as Margaret Naessens she married Carl A. Benko who survives.

Also surviving are a daughter Maureen (Stephen) Juno of Flushing, MI; two sons Carl Benko of Davison, MI; James (Suzanna) Benko of Burton, MI and 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchilden. She was preceded in death by a son Bruce Benko and a brother August Naessens.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am Friday, October 26, 2007 in Our Lady of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 2-8 Thursday in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue where a rosary will be recited at 5:00pm. Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association.
