Dorothy L. Bennett

Dorothy L. Bennett, 83, of Granger, Ind., and Edgewater, Fla., a loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away following a brief illness in Nash General Hospital, Rocky Mount, N.C. She was born in South Whitley, Ind., on Oct. 10, 1918, to Earl H. and Goldie (Henemyer) Shaffer, who preceded her in death.

 

Dorothy had formerly been a sales clerk at Max Adlers and J.C. Penney. She supported her husband in the activities of the Tri Valley R/C Club, which flew radio- controlled model airplanes.

 

Dorothy married Clifford E. Bennett in Columbia City, Ind., on Nov. 8, 1936. Following 59 years of marriage, Clifford passed away on Feb. 25, 1995.

 

Mrs. Bennett is survived by two sons, Robert E. (Kay) Bennett of Crawfordsville, Ind., and Richard D. Bennett of Granger; five grandchildren, Natalie, Michael, Jeffrey, Jennifer and Beth; seven great-grandchildren; and by two sisters, Willodean (Jim) Gamble of Sebring, Fla., and Wanda (Clifford) Olinger of New Haven, Ind.

 

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 10 a.m. Wednesday, with Rev. Kenneth Mendenhall officiating. Entombment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
