MISHAWAKA - Denis L. Berndt, 73, of Mishawaka, passed away
at 4:25 a.m. Thursday, February 21, 2008, in Saint Joseph
Regional Medical Center, South Bend. Denis was born on September
8, 1934, in South Bend, to the late Raymond and Beatrice (Miller)
Berndt.
On May 11, 1955, in Mishawaka, he married
Mary Minzey. Denis is survived by his loving wife, Mary of
Mishawaka; three sons, John Berndt of South Bend, David (Sandy)
Berndt of Mishawaka and Ken (Judy) Berndt of South Bend; nine
grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and two half
brothers, Raymond Berndt Jr. of South Bend and Chuck Berndt of
Indianapolis, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents; one
grandchild; one brother, Ed; and two sisters, Dorothy Lowman
and Judy Hartgrove. Denis proudly served his country in
the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1959. He worked in
sales and delivery for Model Coverall for many years and also
worked for Valley Sharpening in Osceola. He attended Albright
United Methodist, Mishawaka, and was a member of the Teamsters.
A memorial service will take place at 6:00
p.m. Friday, March 14, 2008, in Albright United Methodist Church,
504 W. Mishawaka Ave., Mishawaka, with a dinner to be served
following the service. Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley
Highway, Osceola, is handling arrangements.
