Peter Paul Bernicky

March 22, 1931 - Feb. 1, 1997

Peter Paul Bernicky, 65, residing on Swygart Ave., South Bend, Ind., passed away at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1, at the Hospice House, South Bend, after an illness. Peter was retired, and had been employed at Metropolitan Home Plumbing as a warehouse manager and, more recently, had been employed in maintenance at the Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.

He was born on March 22, 1931, in Whiting, Ind., to the late Joseph and Anne (Nanista) Bernicky. Peter lived in the South Bend area since 1969, coming from Whiting.

On May 24, 1951, at the Andrew's Air Force Base, he married Alberta Anne Dado, who preceded him in death on April 20, 1990.

He is survived by three daughters, Robin Hinkson and Teri Bernicky, both of Mishawaka, Ind., and Gayle Turk of South Bend; two sons, Eric Bernicky of Mishawaka, and Joel Bernicky of South Bend; six grandchildren, Kerry Snyder of North Carolina, Neil Snyder, Rhianna Bernicky, Haley Turk and Riley Turk, all of South Bend, and Erin Snyder of Mishawaka; three sisters, Dorothy Hollon, Irene Hylek and Anne Lozer, all of Old Town, Fla.; and four brothers, James Bernicky of South Bend, Paul Bernicky of Waukesha, Wis., Mickey Bernicky of Griffith, Ind., and John Bernicky of Simi, Calif.

Peter was a Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, and attended Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 5, at Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church, 829 W. Calvert, South Bend. Military gravesite services will follow at the Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.

The family wishes that memorial contributions in Peter's memory be made to the American Cancer Society.
