Esther Lillian Beutter

Esther Lillian Steif Beutter, 91, of South Bend, died at 11:25 a.m. on Monday Sept. 8, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Wakarusa, Ind.

 

Mrs. Beutter was born on June 9, 1906, in New Carlilse, Ind.

 

On Nov. 24, 1927, she married Frank Beutter in Mishawaka. He preceded her in death on Jan. 28, 1978. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, three brothers and four sisters.

 

She is survived by three children; a son, George Beutter of South Bend, and twin daughters, Mrs. Donald (Dee) Schlarb of Mishawaka and Mrs. John (Lorie) Meissner of Wakarusa; and by nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

 

Mrs. Beutter was a registered nurse, graduating from St. Joseph Holy Cross Hospital in 1927. She was a member of St. Bavo’s Catholic Church. She served at the St. Joseph County Farm Bureau Women’s Leaders for six years. She was also a member of the Centre Township Women’s Club since 1929, and had been active in the Farm Bureau.

 

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday in St. Bavo’s Catholic Church.

 

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, Mishawaka, where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

 

Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Mishawaka.

 

Mrs. Beutter’s pall bearers will be her grandsons, Andrew, John and Tom Beutter, Phil Schlarb, Paul and Mark Meissner.

 

Memorials contributions may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association.
