Albert P. Bickel

May 20, 1935 -- June 8, 2005

                                       

Albert P. "Albi" Bickel, 70, of South Bend, passed away early Wednesday morning, June 8, 2005, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend.

Albert was born May 20, 1935, in Mishawaka, a son of the late Nick and Lillian (Fouts) Bickel. He grew up in the area and had been a resident of South Bend for many years. At one time, Albi worked at Uniroyal in Mishawaka. He loved people and was always a kid at heart. Visiting with friends and spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren, were his favorite activities. He also enjoyed going to the movies, walking and traveling to the theme parks in Orlando, Florida.

On May 15, 1967, Albi married Donna Kovachevich. His surviving family includes his wife; three sons, Mike Bickel of Granger, Robert (Brenda) Bickel of South Bend and Joseph (Megan) Bickel of South Bend; a sister, Virginia Bennett of Mishawaka; a half sister, Dorothy Borrows of Chicago, Illinois; and nine grandchildren, Renee, Michael, Aaron, Trey, Brianna, Sierra, Tyler, Jarrett and Xavier.

Albi was preceded in death by three brothers, Jerry, Clayton and Adam, and a sister, Betty.

Friends may spend time with Albi's family on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until noon in the Thallemer, Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 West Third Street, Mishawaka. Services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Friday at noon, with Pastor Dan Morgan officiating. Cremation will follow.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Boys and Girls Club of St. Joseph County. Envelopes are available in the funeral home.
