Earl J. Bickel

Earl J. Bickel, 61, of 2733 N. Main, died at 10:50 p.m. Saturday in his home after an extended illness.  He was born on June 7, 1919, in Mishawaka, where he had lived all his life.  On Sept. 27, 1941, in La Porte, he married Mary Sheets, who survives.  Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Catherine Trimmell of Columbus, Ind.; two sons, Kenneth Bickel of Wyatt and David Bickel of South Bend; seven grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Fred Cecchi of Mishawaka, and two brothers, Lawrence Bickel of Elkhart and Virgil Bickel of Mishawaka.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home.  Bickel retired from the Municipal Utilities in April.  He was a member of St. Monica’s Church and the Usher’s Club at the church.

Services for Earl J. Bickel, 61, of 2733 N. Main, who died Saturday after and extended illness, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home.  Rev. William Schooler of St. Monica’s parish will officiate, and burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.  The rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today.
