Joseph M. Bickel

Joseph M. Bickel, 96, of 316 W. 3rd St., died at noon Saturday in his home after a three-week illness.  He retired from the Dodge Corp. in 1954.  He was born July 14, 1871, in Mishawaka.  His wife, the former Mary E. Jakeway, whom he married in 1898, died in 1948.  Surviving are three sons, William J. of Niles, Louis A. of Elkhart and Bernard of South Bend; two daughters, Mrs. Bert Dygulski and Mrs. Harold Roberts, both of Mishawaka; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.  Friends may call after 7 p.m. today in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Joseph M. Bickel, 96, of 315 W. 3rd St., will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph’s Church.  Mr. Bickel died Saturday noon in his home.  Very Rev. Msgr. Curt A. Suelzer, pastor, of St. Joseph’s Church will officiate and burial will be in the St; Joseph Cemetery.  The rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home.
