Mrs. Sadie Bickel

Mrs. Sadie Bickel, 90, of 1146 E. South St., South Bend, a resident of Mishawaka for many years, died at 3 p.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph’s Hospital.  She was born in Baden, Germany, April 27, 1872 and came here from that country when she was two years of age.  As Sadie Futterknecht she married Frank J. Bickel, May 25, 1896 in St. Joseph’s church here.  He died in 1933.  Surviving are one son, Ronald; daughters, Mrs. Harris Hambright and Mrs. Clarence Hoose of this city and Mrs. Ronald Rich and Mrs. Glen McMillan, of South Bend; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.  Friends may call in the Thallemer-Geothals Funeral Home until the funeral services at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph’s Church, South Bend.  Rev. Joseph Murphy, pastor, will officiate and burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in this city.  The rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today in the funeral home.  Mrs. Bickel was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America and the Altar Society of St. Joseph’s Church, South Bend.

Pallbearers for Mrs. Sadie Bickel, 90, of 1146 E. South St., South Bend, whose funeral was held today, were Maxwell and Ronald Stockbarger, David and Phillip Hoose, Thomas Bickel and Robert Hambright.  Services were at 10 a.m. today in St. Joseph’s Church, South Bend with Rev. Joseph Murphy C.S.C., officiating.  Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery here.
