H. Rex Biddle

MISHAWAKA - H. Rex Biddle, 75, of Mishawaka, passed away on Monday, February 4, 2008, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in South Bend. Rex was born on April 3, 1932, in Lafayette, Indiana, to the late Harold L. and Mary Jane (Newkirk) Biddle.

 

Rex married the former Dianne Schnitzer on September 11, 1960, in Bloomington, Illinois. Rex and Dianne shared 47 years of trust and commitment to each other. Rex is survived by his wife, Dianne, and their daughter, Kimberlyn (Thomas) Benjamin of Canton, Michigan. Rex was a loving grandfather to five grandchildren, Christine, Zachary, Shannon, and twins, Nathaniel and Morgan Benjamin. Rex is also survived by a son, William Lesley "Butch" Biddle of Illinois; with his three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren of a previous marriage. Rex was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara June.

 

Rex served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War conflict, receiving an honorable discharge in February 1957. Rex retired from State Farm Insurance in 1994 as a claim superintendent after 36 years of service. Rex was a member of several clubs and organizations: First United Methodist Church of Mishawaka, Elks Lodge #235 of South Bend, International Order of Blue Goose, South Bend Adjuster Association, Kalamazoo Air Zoo. Rex was also a fraternity member of Free & Accepted Masons Lodge #43 of Bloomington, Illinois, and The Scottish Rite of South Bend.

 

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 7, 2008, from 4:30 to 8:00 p.m., with a Masonic service at 6:30 p.m. in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka. The funeral service will be held on Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, at 10:30 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service in the chapel of the Good Shepherd in First United Methodist Church of Mishawaka, with Rev. Larry Whitehead officiating. Burial to follow the service in the Masonic Garden of Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kalamazoo Air Zoo, 6151 Portage Road, Portage, MI 49002; and the American Cancer Society, 601 W. Edison Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
