VALERE (SLATS) BIEBUYCK

August 20, 1918 – June 3, 1983

 

Valere A. (Slats) Biebuyck, 64, of 448 Kosciuszko Street, died about 12:10pm Friday in St Joseph Medical Center after an illness of eleven days.

 

He was born in South Bend on August 20, 1918, and was a lifetime area resident.  He retired in 1967 after 32 years as a railroad foreman, and later worked at the University of Notre Dame, retiring in 1980.

 

On November 24, 1938, in St Bavo’s Catholic Church, Mishawaka, he married Elsie A. Van Hoecke.  She survives along with two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Sharon Ann) Young of New Lennox, IL, and Mrs. Michael (Jean) Van Heesbeke of New Carlisle; nine grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Irma Jankowiak of South Bend; and a brother, George, of South Bend.

 

Friends may call from 2 to 9pm Sunday in Hahn’s DeVos Funeral Home, Mishawaka.  He was an Army veteran of World War II.  He was also a member of American Legion Post 357, the BK Club, St Adalbert’s Harvest House and Corpus Christi Church. 

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the building fund of Corpus Christi Church.

 

FUNERAL NOTES

BIEBUYCK – Services for Valere (Slats) Biebuyck, 64, of 448 Kosciusko Street., who died Friday at St Joseph’s Medical Center, will be conducted at 11am Monday in Corpus Christi Catholic Church.  Rev. Dennis Blank, pastor, will officiate.  Burial will be in Highland Mausoleum at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9pm today in DeVos Funeral Chapel.
