Frank S. Bielejewski

SOUTH BEND - Frank S. Bielejewski, 96, passed away after an extended illness at 4:11 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, in Holy Cross Care and Rehab Center, South Bend. Mr. Bielejewski was born on August 18, 1911, in South Bend, and had resided in the Michiana area his lifetime.

 

On January 13, 1940, in South Bend, he married the former Mildred E. Palka, who preceded him in death on January 9, 2006. Frank is survived by two daughters, Donna M. (George Murat) Horvath of South Bend and Gloria J. (William) Parker of McMurray, PA; a son, Wayne F. (Bettye) Bielejewski of Granger; a sister, Regina Kruseniak of South Bend; also surviving are six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren whom he loved and cherished. He was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters.

 

Mr. Bielejewski retired in 1978 from the former Tucker Freight Lines as a dock supervisor. Frank will be sadly missed by his loving family, his church family, and all who had the opportunity to know him during his long and wonderful life. He loved fishing, all sports, especially Notre Dame football and the Chicago Cubs. He was fond of living on the farm and watching all the animals. He loved wood-working and he helped build the house he lived in prior to his stay at Holy Cross Care and Rehab. The family thanks all the wonderful nursing staff at Holy Cross Care and Rehab for their wonderful care and friendship to their father over the past several months. Mr. Bielejewski was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church for over 70 years. The family request that all memorial contributions be made to the Military Honor Park, P.O. Visitation hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, March 27, in the Hanley & Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home, located at West Ireland Road/Indiana 23, South Bend. The Rosary will be said at 4 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, March 28, in Holy Cross Catholic Church, with Rev. Greg Haake, CSC, officiating. Burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. The HANLEY & Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home handled arrangements and extend its deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers to the Bielejewski family.
