SOUTH BEND - Dorothy R. "Dot" Billey, 89, of South Bend, died Tuesday in the Holy Cross Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was employed as a clerk for the J.C. Penney Co. for several years and a volunteer to many church and children's programs. Mrs. Billey was born April 24, 1918, in Saskatchewan, Canada, the daughter of William O. and Ruth E. (Tonies) Beghtel.

 

She married George J. Billey on September 30, 1938, in South Bend. He died on May 17, 1997. She was a member of Community Baptist Church, South Bend. Survivors are a son, Paul (Carolyn) Billey of South Bend; a daughter, Beth Ann (Leslie) Cox of Port St. Lucie, FL; sisters, Meryl Cowan of Loveland, CO, and June Pridachuck of Redmond, WA. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald, Bernard and Roy Beghtel; and two sisters, Mara C. Dudley of Sterling, IL, and Evelyn Jeanette Brown of Chicago.

 

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 23, in the chapel at Community Baptist Church, 5715 Miami Road, South Bend, with the Rev. Bud Steadman and Rev. Steve Stadtmiller officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. in the church. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 24, in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Arrangements were handled by the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, 521 N. William St., South Bend. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Children Need the Lord organization at 4600 South Michigan St., South Bend, IN 46614.
