Lucreasie Blake

Mrs. Lucreasie Blake, 96, formerly of 206 N. Huey St., South Bend, Ind., passed aweay at 4:05 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 10, in Meridian Nursing Center-Cardinal. Mrs. Blake was born on May 5, 1899, in Oxford, Miss., to the union of the late Myra and John Stevens Patton.

 

In 1915, in Marked Tree, Ark., she was united in wedlock to Dell Owens, Sr., who preceded her in death. In 1937, in Marked Tree, she married Anthony Blake, who also preceded her in death.

 

Mrs. Blake lived in South Bend since 1941, coming from Marked Tree. She was a homemaker and a member of the Greater Saint John Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the Missionary Society. She leaves to cherish her loving memory one son, Dell (Bess Emma) Owens, Jr.; six daughters, Louise (Hartie) Blake, Myra Barnes, Edna Mae ''Dolly'' Cobb (Charles Hammond) and Olivia Lottie, all of South Bend, Artisha (Adele) Newbill of San Francisco, Calif. and Early (Hobert) Shelton of Marcellus, Mich.; 42 grandchildren; 80 great-grandchildren; and a host of great-great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Mrs. Blake was preceded in death by all of her siblings, four brothers and four sisters.

 

Services will be held at noon on Thursday, Jan. 16, at the Greater Saint John M.B. Church; friends may call one hour prior to services. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery. Clark's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
