Joseph J. Blasko, 90, of Fairmount Avenue, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 7:45 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, in his home.

 

He was born Dec. 1, 1913, in Chicago, Ill., to John and Theresa Blasko, who preceded him in death.

 

He was married in Mishawaka on Sept. 3, 1938, to Lois Freet, who survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Barbara Brazier of Mishawaka; a brother, Andy (Sandy) Blasko of Osceola, Ind.; sisters, Helen (Joe) Mandich, Mary (Leland) Sweeney, Annie (Joe) Petsovich and Rose (Bill) Hall, all of Mishawaka; a godchild, Sue Blasko; and many, many nieces and nephews.

 

He is also survived by his best friend and partner, Virgil Jewell of Mishawaka.

 

Preceding Mr. Blasko in death along with his parents are five brothers, Charles, John, Mike, Frank and Tony.

 

Mr. Blasko was self-employed in the general hauling industry and was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church, the Diloreto Club and the Mishawaka Eagles.

 

Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Monica Catholic Church, Mishawaka, at 10 a.m. Wednesday, with burial taking place at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.

 

Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka. The family wishes to thank the staff of the intensive care unit of Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka, for the loving care given to Mr. Blasko during his illness.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family also wishes that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County or to St. Monica Catholic Church.
