Delbert F. Bloss, Sr.

Delbert F. Bloss, Sr., 75, of Meade Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 3:03 p.m. on Friday, March 31, in Memorial Hospital. Mr. Bloss retired in 1978 from the South Bend Community School Corporation. Delbert served his country in World War II in the Air Force, and was a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Serbian Orthodox Church.

 

He was born on Aug. 1, 1924, in Moberly, Mo., to Erwin and Rosemary Bloss, and moved to the Michiana area in 1940. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Ruby Gillespie and Pearl Gillespie; and by two brothers, Charles Bloss and Erwin Bloss.

 

On Nov. 28, 1942, in Niles, Mich., he married Stella (Bursach) Buinac, who survives. He is also survived by five sons, Dan J. (Donna Marie) Bloss of McAllen, Texas, Delbert F. (Daryl) Bloss, Jr., of St. Petersburg, Fla., Robert (Leslie) Bloss of Elkhart, Ind., Michael (Cheri) Bloss of South Bend and David A. (Jeanette) Bloss of Bedford, Mass; 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and by two brothers, Willis Bloss of Moberly and Wilbert Bloss of Cairo, Mo.

 

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 3, in Sts. Peter & Paul Serbian Orthodox Church. Friends may call one hour prior to services in the church, and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, April 2, in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue, where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sts. Peter & Paul Serbian Orthodox Church building fund.
