Florence B. Blume

Florence B. Blume, 93, of Ashmont Place, passed away at 6:38 p.m. Tuesday in Southfield Village, after an illness. Florence was born on July 25, 1910, in Mishawaka, Ind., and was a lifelong area resident. She was formerly employed by Ball Band.

 

As Florence Cross she married Harold S. Blume on Oct. 2, 1932, in First United Methodist Church in Mishawaka. They moved to Richmond, Ind., for five years, then Kokomo and Gary, Ind., and then back to South Bend, Ind., when her husband purchased a local pharmacy and renamed it Blume Pharmacy where she often helped out. Florence was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and was also a member of the church choir, St. Joseph County Pharmacy Auxiliary and the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Florence loved to travel and enjoyed all kinds of music. Florence was preceded in death by her husband on Aug. 16, 1998.

 

She is survived by two daughters, Janice (Wayne) Andrews of South Bend and Sharon (Joseph) Lingerfelt of New Mexico; and by one son, Richard (Wendy) Blume of Elkhart, Ind. Florence was also preceded in death by her parents, Dallas and Bertha (Leslie) Cross; two sons, Jimmy and Larry Blume; and by one sister, Beatrice Creager.

 

Family and friends may call today from 3 to 7 p.m. in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka, where funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, with Rev. Arnold Roth officiating. Burial will follow at Ferrisville Cemetery. Florence and her family would like to thank her four special Angels and all of Southfield's special Angels.
