South Bend Tribune 8/14/2003

Rosemary Sullivan Blume, 88, passed away early Wednesday morning, Aug. 13, in Countryside Place, Mishawaka, Ind., with her family by her side. She was born in South Bend, Ind., to John and Beatrice Hiss, and on Aug. 19, 1936, she married Robert L. Sullivan. Bob preceded her in death in 1978.

In December 1979, she retired from Marian High School and married Homer L. Blume of Mishawaka. Homer preceded her in death in 2000. Rosemary was also preceded in death by two younger sisters, Eileen (William) Dominic and Joan (Harold) Tehan. Her surviving family includes a son, Michael (Marcia) Sullivan of South Bend; a daughter, Patricia (Richard) Mincinski of Georgetown, Texas; stepsons, Larry C. Blume of Mishawaka and James Blume of Hastings, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Joan (Dennis) Wilson of Spring, Texas; three grandchildren, Lee Ann (Jamey) Rentfrow of Texas, Michael Mincinski of California and Mark Mincinski of Colorado; three great-grandchildren, Jimmy, Christopher and Jennifer Rentfrow; and three step-grandchildren, Ian, Ana and Max Wilson.

Rosemary was a loving, caring wife and mother who was devoted and faithful to her God, her family and her friends. Quiet by nature, she unfailingly saw the good in others and always preferred talking about someone other than herself. She was known to relish quiet times by the water, a good book, gardening, furniture refinishing and, in later years, extensive travel. Rosemary was an active member at Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Special thanks to the loving and talented individuals who have devoted themselves to the care of Rosemary these past years. Becky, Catherine, Tina, Thelma and Barb, your acts of kindness and love will never be forgotten. The family offers their heartfelt thanks to all who have gone beyond the call of duty to make Countryside Place a home away from home, particularly Virginia and Patty.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday in Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 4508 Vistula Road, Mishawaka, with Rev. Fr. Richard P. Hire officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday in the church. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of St. Joseph County or to the church. The family is being served by the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, 503 W. Third St., Mishawaka.
