Brother Alpheus (Anthony Bodde) CSC, 89, died today at Holy Cross House on the University of Notre Dame campus. He was born on Sept 20, 1879 in Sevenaar, Holland, and entered the novitiate of the Congregation of the Holy Cross on July 6, 1907. He made his final profession of vows  July 9, 1910. During his religious life he worked mostly as a gardener and a maintenance man at the University of Notre Dame, St. Mary’s College, and St. Joseph Farm in Granger. He served also at Holy Cross institutions in Portland, Ore.; New Orleans; and Watertown, Wis. There are no immediate survivors.

Friends may call after 1 p.m. Sunday at Moreau Seminary on the campus. The office of the dead and funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday in the seminary.
