Fred J. Boehnlein

April 22, 1920 - May 16, 2002

Fred J. Boehnlein, 82, of E. 4th Street, Mishawaka, passed away at 8:15 a.m. on Thursday, May 16, at the Southfield Village in South Bend. Fred was born on April 22, 1920, in Mishawaka to the late John and Pauline (Aman) Boehnlein. Also preceding Fred in death were four sisters, Francis, Edward, Henry, and Raymond Boehnlein.

Fred is survived by two sisters, Mary Boehnlein of Mishawaka and Helen Shaheen of Sturgis, Mich., and many nieces and nephews.

Fred retired from the United States Postal Service as a clerk after 40 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Michiana Amateur Radio Club. He was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Parish in Mishawka.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 19, at the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, Mishawaka, where a Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. A Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 20, in St. Joseph Church with Fr. Robert A. Yast officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County.
