Stanislawa Boehnlein

April 23, 1911 - Dec. 16, 1999

Stanislawa "Stana" Boehnlein, 88, of St. Paul's Healthcare Center, South Bend, Ind., formerly of Wabash Street, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away after an illness at 5:25 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 16, in Hospice House, South Bend.

Mrs. Boehnlein was born on April 23, 1911, in South Bend, as the daughter of the late Michael and Martha (Lukowski) Grabarczyk. On Sept. 28, 1935, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mish-awaka, as the former Stanislawa "Stana" Grabarczyk, she married Henry Boehnlein, who preceded her in death on April 13, 1978. She was also preceded in death by a son, John Henry Boehnlein on Nov. 11, 1984.

Mrs. Boehnlein is survived by three daughters, Lucy C. Brenner of South Bend, Marcia P. Boehnlein of Minneapolis, Minn., and Martine (Michael) Clyne of Zionsville, Ind.; 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; three sisters, Adele C. Haverstock of Toledo, Ohio, Jean L. Kuhn of Mishawaka and Sabine S. Dvoracek of Eau Claire, Wis.

Mrs. Boehnlein was a registered nurse for the St. Joseph County Health Department for 17 years, retiring in 1974, and also worked for the Indiana Catholic Conference. She sang with the Greater Indianapolis Choir Company and also played with the Carmel Indiana Symphony. She was a member of the Indiana Nurses Association. Mrs. Boehnlein was a member of the National Council of Catholic Women, the Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Mishawaka, and also the Queen of Peace Ladies Rosary Society.

Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 17, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, where a Rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 18, in the Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with Rev. Elden Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Osceola, Ind.
