GEORGE W. BOLIN

April 26, 1935 – December 23, 2005

 

George W. Bolin, 70, of South Bend IN, passed away at 8:15pm Friday, December 23, 2005, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend.

 

He was born on April 26, 1935, to the late Charles E. and Leila (Stocker)Bolin in Mishawaka IN, and was a lifelong area resident.  Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Emma Fisher, Leona Baker and Vera Mae Stopper; and four brothers, James Metz, Charles Bolin Jr., Gordon Bolin and Floyd Bolin.

 

Mr. Bolin retired in 1990 from Sibley’s Machine & Foundry in South Bend IN after 35 years of employment.

 

On October 11, 1968, he married Dorothy V. Kashmer in South Bend IN.  She survives.  Along with his wife, Dorothy, of 37 years; he is survived by his daughter, Tina (husband Carl) Childress of Elkhart IN; three grandchildren, Matthew Morningstar; Brynne Morningstar – who is currently serving in the US Army; and Adam Morningstar; one great granddaughter, Jessica Morningstar; three sisters, Leila (husband Larry) Williams of Osceola IN; Shirley Dhaeze of South Bend IN; and Beulah Schwenk of Mishawaka IN; two brothers, Harry (wife Evelyn) Bolin of Mishawaka IN and Arthur (wife Barbara) Bolin of South Bend IN and many nieces and nephews.

 

Mr. Bolin loved the game of softball.  He played, coached and sponsored softball teams in the South Bend area for 41 years, and has a collection of at least fifty trophies in his basement.  George was inducted into the Indiana A.S.A. Hall of Fame on March 13, 2004.  He also loved Country& Western Music; and was a U.S. Army Veteran.

 

Visitation will be from 3 to 8pm Tuesday, December 27, 2005, in Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend IN.

 

Funeral Services will be held at 10am Wednesday, December 28, 2005, in Kaniewski Funeral Home, with Rev. Camillo Tirabassi officiating.  Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.
