Alfred S. Bolinger

Alfred S. Bolinger, 94, of Joyce Drive, South Bend, Ind., died Sunday, April 28, in the Holy Cross Care and Rehabilitation Center. Alfred was born Jan. 15, 1908, in Mishawaka, Ind., to Charles and Ethel (Carter) Bolinger. Alfred was preceded in death by his parents, and by his brother, Arthur.

 

On July 21, 1941, he married Dorothy Kesler in the First English Lutheran Church in Mishawaka. She survives. He is also survived by one son, Thomas E. (Patricia) Bolinger of South Bend; two grandchildren, Brian (Kathy) Bolinger of Walkerton, Ind., and Brenda Hazinski of Plymouth, Ind.; and by four great-grandchildren, Sarah Bolinger, Daniel Bolinger, Robert Chodzinski Jr. and Amanda Hazinski. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Donna Kesler.

 

Alfred graduated from Mishawaka High School and from the South Bend College of Commerce. He retired from the Bendix Corporation after 31½ years where he worked as a precision inspector in the aviation division. He attended Holy Trinity Lutheran Church which he enjoyed and loved. He was also a 32nd degree Mason.

 

Funeral services for Alfred S. Bolinger will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 2, in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William Street, with the Rev. David Doane officiating. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery. Visitation for Alfred will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today, May 1, in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William Street. The family requests that memorial contributions in Alfred's name be made to the Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 51900 Mayflower Road, South Bend, IN 46628.
