LaVerne K. Bolinger, 95, of South Bend, Ind., passed away at 11:56 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, in Memorial Hospital. Mr. Bolinger was born in Mishawaka, Ind., on Oct. 25, 1908, to Charles and Lillian Bolinger, and moved to South Bend at the age of 3.

 

On August 16, 1928, he married the former Margaret A. Davis and celebrated 62 years of marriage. Mr. Bolinger retired from Bendix Corporation after a 42 year career. He was a 72 year member of Epworth Memorial Methodist Church and a 50 year member of the Portage Masonic Lodge, 675 and the Scottish Rite.

 

LaVerne was preceded in death by his son, Donald; six brothers and sisters; and his wife. Survivors include his son, Corbin (Marilyn) Bolinger of South Bend; daughter, Bonnie (Ron) Gerard of Bedford, Texas; and four grandsons, Colin Bolinger and David Bolinger, both of South Bend, Eric Bolinger of Austin, Texas, and Joel Gerard of Dallas, Texas.

 

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:15 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. Family and friends may call one half hour before services in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shrine Hospital for Children, 2211 N. Oak Park Avenue, Chicago, IL 60707.
