Lakie O. Boren, 74, of 725 E. Indiana
Avenue, South Bend, Ind., passed away after a short illness at
9:10 a.m. on Saturday, March 20, in Memorial Hospital of South
Bend. A homemaker, she was born on March 7, 1925, in Itman, W.Va.
She was a World War II veteran, serving in
the U.S. Army.
She was married on June 24, 1946, in
Arlington, Va., to Roy E. Boren, who passed away on Jan. 18,
1992. She is survived by two daughters, Phyllis Landesman
of North Liberty, Ind., and Connie Kretchmer of Nevada; a
son, LeRoy of South Bend; and by three grandsons and a
great-grandson.
Services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday in
the A.M. Manuel Funeral Home in North Liberty, officiated by
Charles Richmond, pastor of the Church of Christ. Burial will be
in Westlawn Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
on Tuesday at the funeral home.
