Genevieve Borich

Genevieve "Jenny" Borich, 80, of South Bend, Ind., passed away in her home on Sunday. She was born in Decatur, Ind., to the late Stephen and Anna (Kupres) Oslakovich.

 

On Oct. 12, 1940, Genevieve and John "Jay" Borich Sr. were married. They have lived in South Bend since 1952. She is survived by her husband Jay. She is also survived by her daughters, Bonnie (Al) Hopper and Becky (Rick) Kapsa, both of Granger, Ind.; her sons, John (Terry) Borich Jr. and Dennis (Cindy) Borich, both of South Bend; her grandchildren, Jason (Michele) Borich of Sugar Hill, Ga., Jamie (Leslie) Hopper of Indianapolis, Ind., Nick Kapsa of Warren, R.I., Dustin Kapsa of West Lafayette, Ind., Drew Borich of Vincennes, Ind., Kerry Zielinski of South Bend and Leslie Zielinski of South Bend. She is also survived by a sister, Eleanore Drozd of Chicago, Ill.; and a special friend of 50 years, Etta Semala of South Bend.

 

Mrs. Borich is best known for her euchre playing. She and Jay would either be playing or competing in a tournament every week. She also collected angels and was a well-known chocolate chip cookie maker. She was always ready to help people. And most of all, she loved her family. She was always so proud of her grandchildren.

 

Visitation will be today from 2 to 8 p.m. with a Rosary service at 4:30 p.m. in the Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3718 South Michigan Street. Funeral service will be on Friday at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lakeville, Ind. Prayers will be held in the funeral home at 10:30 before processing to the church. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
