Jennie J. Borlik

Dec. 1, 1913 - Sept. 8, 2000

Jennie J. Borlik, 85, of Caring Junction in Mishawaka, Ind., formerly of South Brookfield Street in South Bend, Ind., passed away at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 8, in the Caring Junction.

She was born on Dec. 1, 1913 to the late Casimir and Florence (Kendziorski) Sowka in Pittsburgh, Pa., and had lived in South Bend since 1920, coming from Pittsburgh.

Mrs. Borlik worked as a beautician and was a homemaker.

On April 24, 1935, as Jennie J. Sowka, she married Edward A. Borlik in St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church in Terre Coupee. He died on May 24, 1995. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Severyn Sowka.

She is survived by two daughters, Gerry (Paul) Geyer of Elkhart, Ind. and Barbara (Bart) Ryan of River Falls, Wis.; a son, Edward M. (Betty) Borlik of Osceola, Ind.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Evelyn Borlik, Henrietta Borlik and Elizabeth Borlik, all of South Bend; and by two brothers-in-law, Leonard Borlik of South Bend and Stanley (Dorothy) Borlik of South Bend.

Mrs. Borlik was a member of the St. Casimir Parish and the Senior Citizens and Rosary Society of the church. She was also a member of the St. Casimir's Church Council.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 12, in the KANIEWSKI FUNERAL HOME, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a combined Parish and Senior Citizens Rosary will be prayed at 2:30 p.m. A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 13, in the St. Casimir Catholic Church with Rev. Thomas F. Lemos, C.S.C. officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery.
