Joan V. Botka, age 90, formerly of Bendix Drive, South Bend, died at 11:00 p.m. Tuesday in the residence of her son, Leonard Kanczuzewski of Glendale Avenue, with whom she resided.

She was born August 1, 1908, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident. She was formerly employed by the Bendix Corporation where she worked as a riveter during World War II.

On June 14, 1927, in South Bend, as Joan Dembinski, she married Leopold Kanczuzewski. He preceded her in death on May 1, 1967. She married Edward Botka in 1969, who preceded her in death on April 16, 1988. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed especially by her son, Leonard Kanczuzewski and his wife Sylvia of South Bend; and her six grandchildren, Karen Jasinski, Kenneth, Thomas, Timothy, Christopher and Renee Kanczuzewski, all of South Bend; fifteen great-grandchildren; and by a sister, Frances Gorski of South Bend. She was preceded in death by a sister and ten brothers.

Family and friends may call from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday in the St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be said at 6:00 p.m. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Adalbert Catholic Church, with burial to follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery.

Mrs. Botka was a member of the God and Country Group #335, the Rosary Society of St. Adalbert Catholic Church, was an active member of St. Adalbert Harvest House, Polish Women's Alliance, and Our Lady of Czestochowa Group #305.
