Harold D. Bottorff

Harold D. Bottorff, 86, of South Bend, Ind., passed away after an extended illness at 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25, in St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center. Mr. Bottorff was born on Feb. 5, 1913 in South Bend and resided in South Bend for the past five months coming from Michigan City, Indiana. He retired in 1978 as a truck driver and formerly worked for the former Indiana Motor Bus Company in South Bend.

 

In 1946 he married the former Elizabeth Montgomery, who survives and lives in LaPorte, Ind. He is also survived by a daughter, Betty A. (Kenny) Price of South Bend; a stepdaughter, Marilyn Montgomery of LaPorte; five grandchildren; numerous great and great great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Ellen Hines of Grovertown, Ind. and Margaret Moon of Roanoke, Ind.; and by two brothers, Wilmer (Edna) Bottorff of Portage, Ind. and Donald (Evelyn) Bottorff of Plymouth, Ind. Mr. Bottorff was preceded in death by a daughter, Rita Mae Bottorff; three brothers; and by four sisters.

 

Visitation hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday Sept. 27 in Hanley & Sons ''Southwest Chapel'' Funeral Home located at W. Ireland Road/Indiana 23, South Bend. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 28 in the funeral home. Rev. Robert Vardaman will officiate with burial to follow at Oakhill Cemetery Plymouth, Ind.

 

Mr. Bottorff was an Army Veteran of WW II and a member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) in Michigan City, Ind. The family requests that all memorial contributions be made to the new Military Honor Park, P.O. Box 3356, South Bend, IN.
